The Online World As We all know It
The globe is pushed forward through the internet. If you think about it, the internet has allowed the world to communicate with each other in real time.Long before the internet was around, snail ruled the world. It would take close to a month to communicate internationally. We now live in a world where millions of small to large online business conduct business globally. All it takes is a no-cost WordPress platform and a few WordPress plugins to start a internet business.
With the newest technologies, an online business can be set up in just a few hours. If an one era could be captured in history that defined a civilizations advancement in technology, the internet would be play a major role in that little piece of history.News that is normally jotted down on paper and then transposed into some kind of media, is not fired off within milliseconds of being recorded.Marches and protests are blamed on the power of social networking sites. The internet has changed our lives for the better.Blogs and websites allow people to speak their mind, share photos and media with family and friends across the world.
On the negative side of things, there are those that do not think the internet should be free. For them it is dangerous because it seems too free.In their eyes, it should be controlled through regulation.Yet to control the internet is to ruin the internet. It would destroy the very foundation it was built on.
The American dream of owning a business and having a better life then the generation before them can very well be destroyed through regulation.Forget about the entrepreneur, as he/she would no longer thrive online.
Even the old brick n mortar companies would feel the negative affects. There will be many barriers these merchants will need to overcome to communicate overseas.Acts like this cause a domino effect.Without studying the effects of regulation on such a large scale, regulation would most likely fail.
Trying to justify regulation based on a small percentage of unlawfulness does not supersede all the great things the internet has created and will still create in the coming decades.Along with the good their is a small part of the internet that is bad. Pirates, organize crime and other black markets prosper within the free open market.Yet we cannot let a small minority dictate the vast majority that is positive and good.
I can think back of a time where the internet did not exist.Yet I would never want to go back to an era before the internet. It is hard to give back what the internet has provided us.It increased my ability to generate income, learn new things and communicate with family and friends. It has also done these same things for millions of others around the world. There is not one life that has not been touched by the internet. And as we have seen, the internet continues to thrive and grow.
